Services: contract, cost and commercial management

In construction and infrastructure, change is usual. Scope changes, late instructions, unforeseen site conditions, design development, access constraints, late approvals and interface issues can all affect time, cost and commercial performance. Where such events are not identified, notified, recorded and pursued in time, contractors and other stakeholders can carry avoidable financial exposure.

What we produce

Formal notices | Cost reports | Claim files | Variation registers | Dashboards

CEACM also prepares the correspondence, notices, claim submissions, programmes, payment trackers and variation registers needed to manage these changes.

Claims, variations and commercial protection

CEACM supports clients from the earliest identification of a contractual event, through notice, substantiation, programme impact assessment, cost evaluation and negotiation, to determination and, where needed, dispute resolution support, until the matter is properly concluded. The principal consultant's professional background is in major civil engineering and water infrastructure projects.

Entitlement has to be managed responsibly. We advise on the right to claim and also on the duty to mitigate delay, reduce avoidable cost, maintain progress where practicable and act reasonably under the contract. That balance helps maintain credibility with employers, engineers, supervisors, financiers and public authorities.

Public and donor-funded projects

Government and donor-funded projects carry strict scrutiny, audit requirements, financier procedures and institutional approvals, often through several layers. We help clients anticipate delays in decision-making, manage communication with public bodies, prepare contractual records and keep a clear audit trail for every change and instruction, while preserving working relationships with the employer, the engineer and other stakeholders.

Start early

Construction contracts are time-sensitive. Notices, claims, responses, determinations and mitigation decisions often have to be made within strict contractual periods. Early advice lets a project team respond to events as they occur, instead of rebuilding entitlement after records have been lost or decisions have already affected the project.
