FIDIC and donor-funded contract support

Donor-funded works are usually let on FIDIC conditions or on forms closely related to them, with Particular Conditions and financier requirements added. CEACM supports contract administration under FIDIC MDB Harmonised, FIDIC Red Book, EU-EDF and similar forms, including formal communication and compliance tracking.

Experience of the director and associates includes the AFD Harmonised FIDIC 2010 contract on the WASIB water supply project, a FIDIC Red Book contract on the Kampala Sanitation Programme Phase II and the European Union form of contract on the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which FIDIC forms does CEACM work with?

FIDIC MDB Harmonised and the FIDIC Red Book are the forms in the director's experience, together with EU-EDF and similar forms. If your contract is on another edition or form, send us the name and year.

What is the MDB Harmonised Edition?

Several multilateral development banks use the FIDIC 1999 Conditions of Contract for Construction in their standard bidding documents and have agreed a harmonised version for borrowers. Its Particular Conditions and bank requirements are specific to each contract, so the exact text of your contract governs.

What changed on claims notices between the 1999 and 2017 editions?

Both editions use a 28-day period for the notice. The 2017 edition moves the procedure into Sub-Clause 20.2, adds a longer period for the fully detailed claim, and gives the engineer a short period to challenge a late notice. Our article on notices and time bars sets out the detail. Check the wording against your own contract.

Does CEACM act as the Engineer?

No. CEACM supports the party that engages it and does not act for the other party on the same project.
